Keeping with tradition the club members made the long journey up to Seahouses to dive at the Farne Islands, home to a large Grey Seal population.
Early Saturday morning all the members kitted up and loaded the boat ready for the first days diving, consisting of two dives.
Despite the location out in the north sea temperatures were 10-12°c, no rain, wind speeds of ~6mph and moderate swell, making for very comfortable diving conditions for all the members.
Visibility was mostly good, and depths were 18 meters at deepest, as the surface was where the wildlife we came to see resided!
Divers saw (and Heard) many playful pups during these dives as well as some other ocean dwelling crustaceans.
Sundays diving offered the chance for only one early morning dive due to stormy weather and fog approaching by mid day.
Luck was in however and members were able to dive on the north side of one of the small island, where a much higher population of seals resided.
Although it was one dive everyone made the most of it keeping in very shallow water to dive longer and stayed within the kelp where the pups love to play !
Heading back from the dive on Sunday, before the fog and weather set in the club members were treated to an amazing show by passing dolphins. Adding a beautiful finishing touch to a fantastic weekend.
The trip was a huge success with amazing encounters and great times with friends , with everyone excited for a trip again next year.
